La Finca Vida Joven is a true testament to disc golf inclusion, as well as a spiritual reflection. The course tells a story of coffee and its importance in Nicaragua as it traverses various terrain and climatic zones from rainforest to flat plains and a mix of everything in between.
As the track is laid out surrounding a pristine baseball field, new players can begin with clinics to learn basic throws, developing their skills for the 9 hole intermediate and advanced level concrete tee pads. Multiple basket positions will allow for even more advanced play for international youth competitions.
The course takes you from seed to plant – and finally finishes on a gorgeous vista atop one of the property’s largest peaks – ending at the coffee processing station. Perhaps the aromas of a fresh roasted cup of coffee will greet you at the end of your round.
La Finca (The Farm) is a Young Life Camp/Coffee farm hidden in the mountains of Matagalpa, Nicaragua. Here, a young Nicaraguan comes to experience the love of Christ and to have the best week of their life! La Finca began in 1992 with the first Young Life camp and has been expanded to host 187 guests. A new master plan will be completed in 2017, enabling La Finca to accommodate 350 guests.
Many projects are accomplished each year by Service and Learning Teams (mission teams) who partner with Vida Joven Nicaragua. When the camp is not being used by Vida Joven Nicaragua it hosts church groups and NGOs and Service and Learning Teams. Every pound of coffee grown on La Finca serves the additional purpose of helping raise the necessary funds to send Nicaraguan young people to camp.
