SEED Discs was able to complete this course through the Marco Polo Grant from the Professional Disc Golf Association.

Finca Belen exemplifies the disc golf ethic of community-oriented action. Located on 60 + acres of land, the disc golf course, as well as the baskets, were all created by kids who work at the finca. These kids come from troubled backgrounds and have found themselves on the wrong side of the law. Through Finca Belen, they are able to work off their sentences while learning a trade. The students that SEED Discs worked with were learning to weld, with the hopes that they would take their skills into the marketplace after they completed their terms at the finca.

This gave us a wonderful opportunity to give them projects to work on while building the course. Working together, our team and the kids cut fields with machetes to level the grass, trimmed trees and bushes to manicure the course, and ate together in the evening as a group. It was a wonderful learning experience for everyone involved and we made friends easily with everyone there.

Finca Belen is located off the beaten path, but it is a perfect course for the surrounding communities to fall in love with disc golf and all it has to offer. Each hole has 2 to 3 tee pads so that children and adults in the area can grow their skills and practice new and exciting shots day after day.
